Janet Allemang, MSW RSW

Janet Allemang has a Master of Social Work degree and is a Registered Social Worker. Janet has ensured that her knowledge and training has kept pace with current developments in the field of social work. Janet has attended numerous conferences on child and adolescent issues including: ADHD, depression, eating disorders, sexual abuse, and attachment. While in Hamilton, Janet received training from Hamilton-Wentworth Child Adolescent Services, McMaster Anxiety Disorders Clinic and Hamilton-Wentworth Drug and Alcohol Assessment Service. Janet continues to study in the area of Addictions and Mental Health.

 

Janet worked at Lynnwood Hall Child and Family Centre in Hamilton for seven years. In this residential setting she gained extensive experience in the area of children’s mental health and family counselling. Following this, Janet worked in the Hamilton-Wentworth Mental Health Program. Teamed with physicians and consulting psychiatrists, Janet obtained valuable experience in working with those dealing with clinical depression, including PPD and anxiety disorders. This primary health care setting offered the opportunity to work with individuals, couples and families of all ages.

 

As an associate at Mike Fidler & Associates, Janet helps couples to improve their communication and problem-solving skills. She does assessments for those having drug and alcohol related problems. Individuals having numerous past and/or present difficulties benefit from the work Janet does including improving self-esteem, anger management, grief counselling and stress management.
