Tara Telfer (nee Burggraeve) completed a Master of Social Work at the University of Windsor in 2012 and a Bachelor of Arts – Psychology in 2005.  She is registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and the Ontario Association of Social Workers.

Tara is currently employed as a Clinical Social Worker at a local hospital with the Mental Health and Addiction inpatient, outpatient and emergency mental health programs.  She has previously worked on the medical and palliative floors at another hospital and at a local Children’s Aid Society and Housing and Social Services.

Tara has offered strengths based, client centered, solution focused, culturally sensitive, non-judgmental and anti-oppressive counselling to individuals, groups, youth and families for over five years.   Tara is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Tara received additional certificates in mental health and addiction, trauma and attachment, suicide intervention, safe and positive spaces, and Indigenous cultural competency.

In addition, she has extensive experience in providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions for a variety of presenting issues, such as:
