Mike Fidler has a Master of Social Work degree and is a Registered Social Worker. He has been trained as a custody access mediator through the University of Toronto, has a certificate from the University of Toronto in Psychosocial Factors in Rehabilitation, has an Advanced Family Therapy training certificate from the George Hull Family and Children’s Centre and has a certificate in Addiction Studies from the University of Toronto. Mike is a certified Substance Abuse Professional under NAFTA DOT USA. Mike has completed his advanced certification training using John Gottman Marital Assessment and Intervention Techniques through the John Gottman Institute in Seattle, Washington and is a certified Gottman couple’s therapist.  He has been certified by the Gottman Institute to deliver the Art & Science of Love Couples Workshop, Level one and level two training to clinicians in Gottman methods.  Mike has advanced training in emotional focused couple’s therapy under Susan Johnson and Les Greenburg respectively.  He has his advanced level training in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy as an attachment and trauma therapist for children and youth with Daniel Hughes. He worked at the Haldimand Norfolk Children’s Aid Society for twelve years as a child abuse specialist, taught provincially & nationally for over six years for the Institute for the Prevention of Child Abuse, has been in private clinical practice for over 25 years and manages Mike Fidler & Associates Inc.  Mike has volunteered for over fifteen years as a marriage preparation trainer, is an international couple’s workshop leader and is a couple’s therapy clinical trainer.As part of Mike’s general clinical practice, he provides organizational relationship mediation, communication counselling with conflicting ex-partners, anger management, a variety of employee related counselling, motor vehicle accident and brain injury related issues, drug & alcohol related issues, childhood abuse related issues, attachment issues in childhood and adulthood, mental health issues, marriage counselling, individual adult and youth counselling, and child and family counselling.  Mike assists clients with a wide range of personal and relationship issues.  Mike has a particular interest in children from separated families and their recovery, and children with attachment and trauma difficulties and their recovery.
